At age 72, I am planning to walk across American to bring awareness of how exercise etc. can help bring about a healthier heart and vascular system, lower blood pressure, etc., and to raise funds, as well, for the American Heart Association. I welcome you to follow me on my journey! My plan for 2010 is to walk from Lewes, DE to St. Louis, MO or further if possible. In 2005 I was leading a sedentary life and weighed 201 lbs. I started walking and then running and lost 36 lbs, significantly lowered my blood pressure, my bad cholesterol, and raised my good cholesterol equally. Hiking in the Sierra Madras earlier this year. Hiking is healthy and fun. You get to see a lot of things you would normally not see. Plan to hike (walk) a little today and a little more tomorrow. I took a little 3 1/2 mile walk last evening and met a fellow walker. A delightful Hispanic lady. We talked about the benefits of walking and how when we miss a day, we feel guilty. We also talked about how nice the Greenways Trail in Plymouth is and wondered why it was not used by more people. It is a great addition to the City. Wish it was extended a few more miles through the remainder of town.
