May 2nd
Sunday morning, Pete Nelson, picked Shelly up and he is keeping her until we get to where he lives, about 3 or 4 days down the road. We'll see if she's good enough to continue on the trip or has to be sent home. Del brought us breakfast. Then we left and walked 21 miles. In the afternoon the temperature reached 100 degrees and the tar on the roads was melting! My feet were sticking to it. That night we camped at Matinak State Park on the Choptank River. JJ walked 2 miles to get food while I set up the tent and got the campsite ready. The mosquitoes were disagreeable and hungry there as well!
